Day 61.
We were given permission to have lunch at berghof which was thoughtful! Instead of arriving at 2:00, we were allowed to come at 2:45. Lucky we got given permission on such a nice day in terms of catering! Bangers and mash. British food! Wooo.
After lunch was finished we made our way to Cape Town station using the really scenic route we found yesterday. The route is called Company Gardens and goes all the way from Hof Street, where we reside, to Darling street, where we usually get off the bus. Can't believe we've only just found it now, such a nice walk!! Squirrels come to your feet and look to get food from you, it's crazy! It should be called squirrel gardens. It takes about 15 minutes to walk through company gardens but both Jeff and I agree it's a much better route than the bus, in terms of scenery and time!! Sometimes you wait for the bus for about 30-40 minutes which is a nightmare! If James from the gappers group is reading this he will understand the extent of what a nightmare is! Whenever jeff and I say the word nightmare we do it in James' strong Manchester accent.
Our session today was at De Waveren again. We did a capture the flag warm up which went down well and then did a tournament because it was our last time at the school. We had a decent turn out of 24 and the tournament went down a treat. Good session bar a few arguments. I'm glad we've done a few sessions at De Waveren, they're a really passionate school with a teacher who is adamant to use soccer in their school and is ALWAYS keen to have us their literally. We've rung him on really short notice and he's still managed to get us 15-20 kids! Lovely man. Both jeff and I wish the best for him and the school!
Our second session scheduled for the day was at the Bothasig complex which communicare have. The session was scheduled for 4:30, however we knew that the boys would rock up after that so we got there at about 4:40. We arrived to see only two boys there. They told us the message had been passed around but boys had rugby practice, were doing homework, eating or just simply weren't at home! So the session was cancelled. What a shame!
We asked Joe to drop us at darling so we could walk through company gardens again instead. I managed to get a David Attenborough-esque video of a squirrel eating a matter of feet from me. The footage is really high definition despite it being really zoomed in, can't wait to show it to family and friends when I'm back. I was filming Jeff and I walking through the gardens only to see two squirrels 'making love' when I focused on a tree, which was quite funny to see! Don't judge my immaturity.
Tonight is Manchester City vs Barcelona so we'll either watch it at home or watch it at mixa's. Both Jeff and I need to withdraw tonight and get some breakfast supplies for the apartment.
All the best
Luke
