Day 66

Day 66

Today was our day off. I woke up at 11 but Jeff rose a bit earlier than me, partly because he's been feeling Ill recently and partly because he 'just woke up'. It was cleaning day also, this meant the cleaning ladies came knocking on our door telling us it was time for our room to be cleaned! Not gonna lie, they have a big task when they come to our room! We keep our rooms clean but to a teenagers satisfaction of clean, so like I said, their work is always cut out! They always do a great job, they Hoover the floor, wash the kitchen floor, do the bathroom, give us new sheets and even do the dishes when we've forgotten to do them!

Whilst the ladies were cleaning Jeff and I pondered what to do on our day off. Recently when walking through company's gardens we had seen a few museums which we said we should visit! So that's what we did!!

We visited a planetarium and museum known as the SA museum. The planetarium show was at 2:00 and was about the cosmic egg and knowledge of the universe! It was really good and the chairs were so comfortable. They tilt all the way back so you can look upwards at the spherical screen above you. Whilst waiting for the show to start I felt myself nodding off a bit because of the relaxing pre-show music and artificial star lit sky! FUN FACT ALERT!!!! When we look at the sun we're looking in the past. This is because it takes the suns light 8 minutes to reach earth! We was in the museum for a good 2 hours checking out all the animal models, fossils, rocks and all that kind of stuff! A nice way to spend the afternoon. The museums massive and we did heaps of walking around so we were quite tired by the end of it especially after yesterday's surfing antics.

After the museum we went for some lunch then headed to long street market to check out the local produce on show! Jeff bought a few authentic African clothing pieces for 378 rand after some hard hustling! I bought a South African away strip for 160 rand after the guy started at 250 rand and then refused to go any lower than 200 rand! It's quite humorous negotiating a price and I definitely know where to go to get some presents! Our final trip before heading back to berghof was an excursions shop, different to the one we checked out before. The price to go to Aquila Safari was pretty similar but we spoke to the guy about Shark cage diving and he said with transport, food and the whole experience it would cost 995 rand which is like 55 pound in England! Not bad. Jeff and I want to film each other's experience so we don't mind going in separate cages. However they do an underwater film of your experience for 350 rand which sounds like a good shout! Once in a lifetime opportunity on a disc to watch whenever I want! Would be Hard to say no on the day but we will see !Just need a date to book for now!

A days off well spent!

We're in a prison tomorrow coaching parolees! Looking forward to that. Our second appointment is at Yonicks school!

All the best

Luke
